Chapter 3 "Emily, I just found out…" Nikolas saw her angry look, "I mean if I would have known… nevermind." "Nikolas, spare me, ok?” Emily snapped before turning to Liz, "I can't believe you did this to me.” Emily said sadly in a whisper before beginning to walk away. "Emily! Hold on!” Liz called after her before giving Nikolas a sympathetic look. Lucky glanced over at Nikolas, "You ok?" Nikolas sighed, "Lucky, if I tell you something will you give me your word it's just between us?" Lucky laughed, "I don't know. Elizabeth has a way of getting things out of me." Nikolas' serious look made him nod, "You have my word." Nikolas took a deep breath, "When Emily left I felt… sad in a way because she hadn't talked to me since she found out about Katherine but I was furious with her for being hurt like I had done something to her. Like we were together, you know?" Lucky crossed his arms with another nod, "I know." "It was ridiculous.” Nikolas sat down on the curb and Lucky sat next to him, "She wouldn't answer my phone calls, she'd ignore me if I passed her, and wouldn't even look at me when… I mean she couldn't stand me at all.” Nikolas smiled, "Then she came back and I thought maybe just maybe… Emily and I could start over as friends or anything else but… she, of course, shot me down and made me feel two feet tall. I wanted so bad for her just say how much she had missed me or let me apologize. She didn't but I still remember what I realized. When she left my life and Port Charles realized something. Something that could have made my life so much better and it wasn't until Emily was gone that I did. Something that could have made me so much happier down the road.” Nikolas said sadly. "What did you realize?” Lucky frowned. A wide grin spread across his face as he revealed, "I'm in love with Emily Bowen-Quartermaine. Always have been and always will be.” Then the grin faded as he chuckled, "Too bad I realized it too late." Lucky was shocked by what Nikolas said but then he just blurted out, "Who says it's too late?" Meanwhile… "I didn't know until today, alright?” Liz told Emily as she stopped her. "Liz, you know how I felt about Nikolas. I can't be his… sidekick at the wedding or anywhere else! The friendship and whatever else was there if gone! I felt hurt by Nikolas and betrayed. But most of all I was in love with a man who didn't give a damn about me! I won't do it again!” Emily shouted. Liz shrugged, "The key word is felt, Emily! You felt love towards Nikolas!” Liz stopped when she saw Emily's sad expression and off and away look, "It is felt isn't, Emily?” She smiled happily, "Oh my god.” She whispered before laughing slightly, "You're still in love with him, aren't you?" "No! I'm not! I swear!” Emily insisted knowing she was lying but hoping Liz couldn't tell. "I can tell when you're lying, Emily.” Liz reminded her. Emily tried to keep a strong expression but lost it after a moment, "Alright! Yes! I'm still in love with the biggest jerk in the whole world! Nikolas Cassadine is the only man I'll ever love, ok?! Are you happy now?!” Emily said to Liz angrily still speaking in a whisper but her voice slowly rising. "Yes, I'm happy!” Liz giggled, "Emily, don't you see what this means?” Emily gave Liz a confused face so Liz explained, "You two are both head over heels for each other! You two can be together now." Emily shook her head with a laugh, "Oh no you don't, Elizabeth! When are you going to realize that not everyone can be as happy as you and Lucky?! I am not going to get together with Nikolas any time soon! In fact I will never be with him!" "Emily, can't you just swallow your pride? For just once.” Liz begged while Emily tried to hold back her anger, "You could have so much if you just let someone… Nikolas get close to you." "Nikolas and I will never be close again! I can't stand the sight of him!” Emily yelled and then begin to walk away again knowing Liz was following, "Do you think this is easy for me, Liz? To hate and love someone so much at the same time?" "No, Emily, I just think that maybe you two still have a chance.” Liz replied with a grin stopping Emily, "Just calm down, ok?” Emily nodded and took a deep breath. They stood in a moment of silence until Liz gasped loudly almost scaring Emily to an early grave, "I've got it!" "Got what?” Emily asked with a frown. "I've got a way to get you back together with Nikolas!” Liz answered happily. "No! Liz, you are not going to play matchmaker do you hear me?! I want nothing to do with Nikolas! I'm trying to get over him not get with him!” Emily wanted so bad to take whatever idea it was away from Liz but she could tell she wasn't getting through to him, "Promise me that you won't plan a big make up for me and Nikolas.” Emily demanded. "But, Emily…" "No 'buts'!” Emily argued. "Fine, I won't plan a big make up for you and Nikolas.” Liz vowed. "Thank you. Now, I'll see you later.” Emily told her before leaving. Liz crossed her arms and watched Emily walk away, "Instead, I'll just do any and every thing that comes to mind.” Liz whispered to herself the smile reforming, "We'll just see what happens.” Liz walked back to see Lucky and Nikolas huddled together discussing something. She walked up to them quickly, "What's up, guys?” Liz asked while she approached. Lucky sighed, "Emily bailed, huh?" "Yea. We were really busy today and she just needed some rest. That's all.” Liz responded. "It's ok, Liz. You don't have to lie to me.” Nikolas smiled sadly, "I know Emily hates me." "No, she doesn't!” Liz blurted out while Lucky watched her expressions. "Yes, she does.” Nikolas took a deep breath, "And that's fine. I hurt her and she hates me.” He shrugged, "I better be leaving. Lucky, thanks…"Nikolas grinned, "For everything." "No problem. "Lucky assured him and Nikolas left. A few moments after Nikolas left Lucky whirled around to Liz, "I know that look." Liz ran a hand through her hair trying to act coy, "What look?" Lucky laughed taking her hands in his, "The look you were wearing the whole time you were talking to my brother.” He leaned over to whisper into her ear, "What's the plan?" Liz exhaled, "I don't have plan.” Lucky rose a brow, "Well, it's not really a plan. But I do have a few things rolling around in my head.” Liz hinted and kissed him quickly, "Will you help?" "You know I will.” Lucky agreed and Liz begin to tell him her first 'thing' to try and get Emily and Nikolas together.
