Chapter 4 Emily sat across the table from Emilio nervously biting her lower lip. Neither of them knew what to say so they sat in silence. They were at a beautiful new restaurant in Port Charles that had just opened. The place was packed but somehow Emilio had managed to get them a table that was in the corner and sort of secluded from the rest of the customers. Emily's eyes set on the candle's flame burning in the center of the table. The sweet flower scent had filled the air surrounding them and the clear glass candle holder was perfectly placed in between the self serving spices and rose also placed there in between the two of them. Emilio stared at Emily still amazed at how such a small town had kept this woman locked away from the rest of the world. She was wearing a long satin brown dress the off the shoulder straps revealing her smooth shoulder and her hair pulled up a top her head with curls hanging down in every possible place making her looking even more incredible. Her spirit amazed him and her beauty was astounding. He was also frighten by how intimated her was by her. She was the only girl who had ever made him feel like he wasn't the most important thing in the world and also made him feel human instead of untouchable. Emily rested her hands in her lap and Emilio cleared his throat, “Well, Emily,” He paused, “I must confess something.” He told her she looked at him curiously and he signaled for her to lean in and she did so with a shy smile, “I am completely taken back by you.” He whispered looking deeply into her eyes. Emily blushed rolling her eyes, “No, you're not." Emilio rose a brow, “Really? How do you know?" "I sort of… found out about you.” Emily replied. "Oh, and what did you discover?” Emilio questioned curiously. They both sat back and Emilio's eyes stay glued on her. She placed a hand under her chin and shrugged, “Emilio Lopez, the rich kid from Spain, who changes girlfriends as often as he does his clothes.” She grinned at him teasingly, “I know what you're all about, Emilio, and I guarantee you that I won't be some toy." Emilio nodded, “Well, I must admit I am a little shocked you… researched me but I can also tell you,” He looked at her admiringly as she crossed her arms, “You are not like anyone I've ever met. You're different. You're…" He smiled sweetly suddenly and Emily's defenses were shot down at his look as he added, “You're like my mother." Emily laughed a little embarrassed, “You're mother?" "Well, I mean… my father told me about how he met my mother and how he felt when he did… you remind me of what he said he felt for her.” Emilio blurted out but looked away in embarrassment, “You must think I'm an idiot. Bringing up my mother on our first date." Emily shook her head in response, “No, no, I don't.” She insisted resting one of her hands on his hand, which was rested on the table, “Tell me about her. Tell me what you're dad told you about her. I wanna know.” She told him with an understanding look. Emilio's smile widened, “Ok. Well… what do you want to know?" Emily giggled as her eyes widened, “Tell me about you're mom! How did they meet?" Emilio took a deep breath, “It's funny how they met. You see my father was with my grandfather at this restaurant and my father was to met his future wife that day." "Met his future wife?” Emily questioned with a frown. "My dad was suppose to participate in one of those… I'm not sure what you call it.” Emilio paused, “It's like a set marriage. You know, one agreed to before the children or even born half of the time." Emily's eyes widened, “Oh man, Your father must have been so miserable." Emilio nodded, “He was until he spotted my mother." "The girl he was to marry?” Emily asked placing her other hand under her chin like the other. "No, the waitress.” Emilio told Emily and they both laughed, “Needless to say my grandpapa was not a happy man. But that night after my father learned her name he had to see her again. Even if it was nothing but a glance but she ended up bumping into him and they were inseparable.” Emilio explained with happy thoughts of his mother filled his head. "Your mother sounds like a wonderful woman.” Emily told him sincerely. Emilio's smile faded, “She was.” Emily felt her heart sink at the comment, “She died a few years ago. She came down with some sort of cancer.” Emilio said still not fully understand the situation that had happened years ago. Emily found it hard to speak with the foot in her mouth but quickly apologized, “Emilio, I'm sorry. I didn't know." Emilio looked at her his smile returning, “Don't be.” He wiggled his finger between hers, “I haven't got to talk about my mother in a while.” He thanked her with his look and Emily's heart began to beat twice as fast. Everything she had wanted in a guy… was Emilio. "So, besides your mother being perfect. What about your father?” Emily asked taking the last bite of her salad and trying to make some conversation hopefully to divert Emilio from staring any longer. This whole night was incredible but his look at her made her feel incredibly shy. "My papa?” Emilio questioned and faked a sarcastic smile, “Well, he's…"He paused and gave her a look, “Protective." Emily laughed slightly, “Just protective?" Emilio searched his mind for the right words, “Well,” He paused playing with his fork, “When we first arrived in Port Charles, I mean I didn't know anyone and… all my friends…" "Girlfriends?” Emily questioned raising a brow. Emilio flashed her a grin before continuing, “Friends were in Spain along with my… whole world. I mean everything was there.” He looked into her eyes and let his expression turn completely serious, “But then I bumped into you and…"Emilio paused when Emily began to blush, “You make Spain seem like distant memory." Emily gazed at him and slightly smile, “You sure are a charmer, Emilio." "It's not charm, it's the truth.” Emilio told her before looking down and paying for their dinner. He slowly rose from his chair and walked over to Emily's side of the table. Emily stood and Emilio pulled her chair back then took a step beside her before placing his open palm before her. Emilio watched as Emily smiled perfectly before placing her hand in his and slowly following him out. They waited for Emilio's driver to bring the car around front patiently. Emily didn't mind holding Emilio's hand while he smiled proudly, “I could get use to you, Emily.” He told her out of the blue before turning to face her, “I had the most wonderful time tonight." Emily brushed a curl out of her face before speaking softly, “I did, too. It was really…" "Emily?” She heard someone calling out and turned to see Nikolas approaching with Liz and Lucky. Emily swallowed a lump in her throat before biting her lower lip. Emilio saw Emily's look and intertwined his fingers with hers flashing her a reassuring smile. Emily glanced over at him before grinning back. Liz observed Emilio's black suit and clean demeanor. Emily and Liz made eye contact. Liz winked and Emily let out a small giggle confusing Emilio and the guys. Lucky looked at him searching his mind, “Emilio, right?" "Correct.” Emilio nodded not liking how Nikolas was looking at Emily and he was a little more comfortable when he noticed Emily was watching him, ignoring Mr. Cassadine, “Nikolas, right?" Nikolas made eye contact with Emilio for the first time, “Right. So, you two just get here?" The car pulled up and Emily shook her head, “Actually, we were just leaving." Emilio opened the door for Emily, never letting go of her hand, and Emily waved to her friends, “Goodbye, guys.” She said before letting go of Emilio's hand and taking a seat in the back. Emilio smiled politely at Emily's friends before going around to the opposite side of the car and taking a seat beside Emily in the back. Liz looked at Emily once more through her rolled down window and signaled to her, 'Call me.' Before the car left. Liz and Lucky smiled in happiness for the friend before turning to Nikolas who had the weirdest look on his face. Lucky frowned and raised his hand in front of Nikolas face waving it up and down, “Nikolas?” He said softly but no response. Liz tapped Lucky's shoulder and shooed him aside. Lucky looked at her inviting her to snap him out of it. She did… literally. She raised her fingers and snapped them loudly. Nikolas shook his head still carrying an angry look. Liz turned to Lucky and a cocky smile spread across her face before Nikolas ushered them in.
