Chapter 9: No one can know

Nikolas Cassadine walked into his secret room, which was hidden beneath the 
carpet in his bedroom. He turned on the light switch and cried. He watched as he 
saw his beautiful Elizabeth. He had a painting of Liz he himself had made, when 
they were married. He remembered the day they were married, it was the happiest 
moment of his life…

“Elizabeth, are you okay?” Nikolas asked. 

“I’m fine, I guess I miss home.” Liz said softly. 

“You can’t go back.” Nikolas said softly. “No one is to know that we’re married, 
no one.” 

“Yes, Nikolas.” A tear ran down her cheek. “You are my husband now and forever, 
I have to respect that of you.” 

“Elizabeth I love you so much.” Nikolas said softly, caressing her face. 

“I know…I just can’t love you Nikolas…” Liz stated. 

“I know, but that will change.” Nikolas smiled. Liz looked up to Nikolas’ eyes 
and gave a smile. 

“Thank you…” she said softly. 

“For what?” he asked. 

“For giving me time.” She smiled. Nikolas placed his hand under her chin lifting 
it up. He gave her a soft kiss. He noticed she didn’t kiss him back, she was 
still in love with Lucky.

“Nikolas, Alexandria, she needs her bottle.” Called Hannah, bringing Nikolas 
back to reality, he climbed up to the room, and locked the panel. He headed to 
Alexandria’s nursery, where he found Hannah. 

“I’ll be happy to take care of Alexandria.” Said a voice from behind. Hannah and 
Nikolas turned around to find Helena smiling. 

“I can’t trust you grandmother, you might poison her.” Nikolas laughed. 

“Nikolas, I’m hurt” Helena smiled. “Why would I hurt the princess to the 
Cassadine throne?” 

“I don’t know, why don’t you tell me.” Nikolas crossed his arms. 

“Nikolas, I can assure you, I will not cause harm.” She smiled slyly. 

“Unless, I have to.”

After Joe gave the ‘news’ on Liz’s condition, Sarah ran out of the hospital, 
with Lucky and Emily behind.

Joe grabbed some clothes for Liz, and entered the ICU. 

Elizabeth Webber climbed from her hospital bed, and saw that Joe Scanlon came 
into the room. 

“Okay, I lied, but will this go on for long?” he asked. 

“I’m not sure, I need to take care of some ‘unfinished business’.” Liz gave a 
smile. “Can I have some clothes?” 

“I thought you were going to ask about that, so I made sure.” He handed her a 
pair of pants, and shirt. 

“Thanks.” She smiled. 

“Yeah, just let me know if I can help you with anything else alright?” 

“Yeah, thank you doctor.” Liz saw as Joe exited the ICU. After he left, she 
quickly changed. Her arm was really sore, she looked down at her arms and legs 
and saw them really bruised up. ‘I was so lucky’ she said to herself.

“I can’t believe she’s dying!” Sarah sobbed. 

“Sarah, its okay.” Emily felt her eyes fill with tears. “I thought she was going 
to be okay.” 

“I don’t get this.” Lucky turned around. “This doesn’t make sense, what did she 
do to herself, that she’s dying?” 

“Lucky, you were the last one with her, what did she say? Did she sound weak?” 
Sarah asked. 

“She didn’t look that well, but not life threatening, she cried a lot, I saw 
bruises on her hand.” 

“I can’t believe I didn’t see her!” Sarah cried loudly. 

“Lucky, I’m going to take Sarah home, you have your car here.” Emily sighed. “Go 
home okay, I’ll call you later.” 

“Alright, I’ll see you later.” He looked at Sarah. “Sarah, get some rest.” 

Lucky watched as Sarah and Emily headed off out of the hospital. Lucky looked 
down the hall and raised an eyebrow. Something wasn’t right about this, he 
needed to find out. He headed to the ICU.

Liz got dressed and looked around the room, it was so empty, so quiet. When Liz 
lived with Nikolas, there wasn’t a moment where there was peace and quiet. A 
single tear fell from Liz’s eyes. She quickly wiped it away and started to head 
out the door. She placed her hand on the doorknob and turned it. She opened the 
door and saw Lucky standing there. ‘Oh God, no!’ she said to herself ‘I can’t 
tell him, I can’t tell anyone.’ 

“Elizabeth? What’s going on?” he asked, as he saw her out of bed.
