Chapter 8: The condition Elizabeth Webber gently opened her eyes. The flashes of her and Nikolas’ past haunted her, oh how she hated him. She knew he was a great father and husband, but she noticed everything changed when Alexandria was born. He even threatened her. *** Liz got up from the hard floor, drops of blood dripped. She reached up and touched her lips, when she looked at her fingers, she saw blood on them. She looked up to see her husband, Nikolas, furious at her. ‘Why is he doing this?’ she asked herself. “Elizabeth get up!” he screamed. “Nikolas! I hate you!” Liz cried. “You don’t hate me, and you know it.” Nikolas laughed. “Why are you doing this? we have a daughter, she sleeping right down the hall. Can’t you try to accept that I can never love you like I loved Lucky? Please, accept it.” Liz said quietly. “No, Elizabeth you will love me more, I’ll make sure of that.” Nikolas said sternly. Liz walked pass him, to head down the stairs. “You can’t keep me here.” Nikolas came from behind her and pushed her down the stairs, causing her to tumble down breaking every bone in her body, or that’s how it felt. He watched as Liz’s body was sprawled on the floor. “Mrs. CASSADINE!” screamed Laurena, when heading out of the nursery. She looked at Nikolas coldly. “What is your problem? Are you trying to kill her?” “No, I’m trying to keep her here, I’m not going to have her escape.” Nikolas said, still watching Liz on the floor. “If anyone finds out about Alexandria, I assure you both Liz and her daughter will be killed.” Liz opened her eyes and couldn’t move her legs that well. ‘Did I break my legs?’ she asked herself, all she could do was wait, and hear Nikolas threatening her and Alexandria’s life. *** Liz jumped at the memory. She looked to her side and saw Lucky. Tears filled her eyes, she couldn’t believe it was him. She thought this was just another dream. She continued to stare at him, then looked around and noticed she was in a hospital. “Lucky?” she asked. Lucky took hold of her hand, he noticed how much she changed. Her hair was so long, she was pale and weak, but she still looked so beautiful to him. He held her hand to his face and cried. “Elizabeth, I can’t believe its you.” “Lucky , you came back?” she asked. “I couldn’t stand being without you.” Lucky said softly. “Everyone told me you were dead, everyone is convinced that you’re dead.” “I know…Emily told me.” Liz smiled. “Did you think I was dead?” Lucky sighed. He didn’t know how to answer that question. He had to make himself accept it, but he failed. He didn’t believe that Liz was dead, but did he think of it? With all his heart? He saw as Liz looked at him, wondering if he did think she was dead. She couldn’t blame him, all she had to hear was ‘Yes’ then she would be on the rampage to kill Nikolas. She had to calm herself down, she couldn’t lose control. Nikolas was Alexandria’s father, and she deserved him, abusive or not. Because Liz knew if Nikolas was killed, Helena would come and raise Alexandria as her daughter. “Elizabeth…you need your rest.” Lucky said softly. “So you did…” Liz closed her eyes. “Elizabeth, I didn’t know what to think, everyone said you were killed.” Lucky stood up. “Would you think I was dead if everyone thought I was dead?” “Lucky, I thought you were…or that you forgot about me and moved on.” Liz said. “I’d never move on, if I knew you were alive!” Lucky cried. “I would never either, yet I did…” Liz closed her eyes, causing tears to spill out. She remembered the night Nikolas took her away. *** Liz kicked and screamed as she awoke from the powerful blow. She was in a car. She saw nothing but darkness, she was blindfolded. She felt her assailant’s breath on her neck, she started to scream. “Shut up!” he screamed placing a gag on her mouth. Liz’s eyes widened as she knew who held her captive. It was the voice of Nikolas Cassadine. She gasped and couldn’t believe he was doing such a thing. She looked around as she saw that he was dragging her out of the car. She wasn’t going to lose the battle, she continued to kick and scream. ‘Nikolas, why are you doing this?’ she said to herself. “Elizabeth, can’t you cooperate?” he punched her to the stomach, causing her to pass out again. He placed her over his shoulder and carried her to his private jet. He was going to take her away from everything, especially Lucky. *** Lucky felt a little confused, but then he remembered the ring. She was married, she moved on. Liz started to cry. “What did I do to deserve this!” she cried. Lucky quickly held her in his arms, “Nothing, you did nothing!” he cried. “It’s my fault, I shouldn’t have left.” “You didn’t know…you had no choice.” Liz looked down. “I’m really sorry.” He said. “Lucky, can I be alone?” Liz requested. Lucky felt a little hurt, she didn’t blame him, yet he thought she didn’t. he wasn’t sure where he stood with Liz right now, he wasn’t sure if she would like to move on with him like she did two years ago. He looked at Liz one last time and left the ICU. Just then Joe Scanlon comes into the ICU, while Lucky exits. “Hello, Miss Webber.” he smiled. Liz looked over to him and gave a confused look. “Who are you? Are you my doctor?” “Yes, I’m Joe Scanlon.” He introduced himself. “Is there something you need to tell me, doctor? About my condition?” Liz asked. “Yeah, Elizabeth you have some internal bleeding, but in time that will all heal. I can only guess that the pain from your bruises caused you to pass out.” He explained. “Um, I’d like to ask you a question though.” “What’s that?” Liz asked. “How did you hurt yourself this way?” he asked “I can’t tell you, I mean can’t tell anyone.” Liz stated. “Its too hard!” “Okay, I can schedule one of our counselors if you’d like?” “No!” Liz cried. “Don’t you understand? I can’t tell anyone!” She cried in pain as she moved her arm. “Elizabeth, calm down, you don’t have to tell anyone okay?” Joe reassured her. “You need to rest, can you agree with that?” “I… I guess.” Liz said, trying to ignore the pain. “Okay, your sister is just outside, I’ll let her know on your condition.” “Doctor, I’m very sorry, I can’t let you do that.” Liz said softly. “She’s your sister, okay, do you want any visitors?” he asked. “What’s the point? They all think I’m dead!” Liz cried. “All because of him…” Liz said quietly. “All right, I’ll tell them to come some other day then.” “No! I never want to see any of them! I don’t need their sympathy!” Liz lost control. She cried, as she moved her arm again, the pain was so unbearable. “I want you to do something for me doctor…” Liz said, cradling her arm. “Okay.” Joe waited for her response. “I… I want you to tell them that I’m dying or in a coma.” She said. “Miss. Webber, you can’t ask me to lie, Lucky Spencer loves you.” “Please, I need you to do this.” Liz requested. “I need to take a trip without anyone knowing.” “Okay, I’ll try.” He said softly. “Since you are okay, I can let you out today, I’ll be back after I tell your friends your condition.” “Thank you.” *+*+* Sarah and Emily looked at Lucky slouching in his chair “How is she?” Sarah asked. “She’s hurting, she told me to leave.” Lucky said sadly. “I don’t blame her.” “Lucky, don’t say that, Liz still loves you.” Emily paused. “I’m sure of it.” Suddenly, Joe comes toward Lucky, Sarah, and Emily. He had the results on Liz’s x-rays, as well as Liz’s request. He made himself have a ‘disturbing’ look on his face. “Doctor, what’s wrong?” Lucky asked. “Um, how can I say this?” he sighed. “Elizabeth, she’s badly hurt.” “Doctor please, just say it!” Sarah cried. Emily came up to her and calmed her down. “Elizabeth, she’s not going to pull though.” He lied ************************************************************************ Let me know what you thought of this chapter.
