Chapter 1: One's destiny is changed... Lucky's Apartment: Lucky sat on the edge of his bed thinking about his and Liz's future. Lucky, then had an idea to pop the question that would change everything for Liz and himself. Lucky decided to plan a romantic dinner on the docks. Then he would ask her. He asked himself, “will she say yes?” Lucky paced around his room nervously. He rehearsed how he would ask Liz. "Liz will you do me the honor?" he shook his head. "No… uh, maybe like "Elizabeth I've loved you all my life and I want… no that's not it." There was a knock on his apartment door. He straightened his hair and opened the door. "Hey Honey." Liz smiled. Lucky just stared at her, she looked so beautiful. Her hair was down and she had the cutest plaid yellow, short summer dress. Topped of with chunky heels with daisies for the buckle. "Lucky? Hello? Are you all right?" Liz asked. "Huh? Oh I'm fine." He smiled nervously. "Are you sure, I mean we could stay here if you want." She smiled. "We don't have to have a picnic outside." "No, Elizabeth lets go, I'm fine really." He held her hand. "Lucky? You're shaking. Are you sure your all right?" she looked at his face. "Yeah, hey lets get going." He managed to hide his nervousness. Lucky opened the car door for Liz and then finally got in the car. Liz looked as he opened the door. "Lucky, if you don't want to eat dinner, we don't have to." "Elizabeth, I'm all right." Lucky smiled. Liz looked at Lucky worriedly. "Okay." She smiled. Lucky looked at Liz and then started the car, and they were off. When they got to the docks, Lucky felt sick to his stomach. Liz opened her door and headed toward the trunk to get the picnic basket. Lucky opened his door and then approached where Liz was. "Okay, I'll get the basket and you get the blanket." He smiled. "Yeah, I know you're really strong, I know you can handle that Lucky." She laughed and headed to a great spot where they could eat. Lucky brought over the basket and placed it on the blanket. Liz sat down and stared at the stars. "Oh aren't they so beautiful?" she asked. Lucky sat behind Liz and massaged her shoulders. "Man, you're tense Elizabeth, hard day?" "Yeah, I'm glad that school is over, I had to turn in my last minute exams today." "Oh, you had to make up an exam?" "Yeah, because of a family emergency." "Audrey?" he said still massaging her shoulders and neck. "Yeah, she's dealing with a lot of stress…" Liz grew quiet. Lucky stopped and pulled her back. "Hey, its all right, I'm sure she'll be fine." "Yeah…" Liz managed to smile. She turned around and looked at Lucky. "I love you Lucas Lorenzo Spencer… I mean that… I've never said that to anyone but you." "Hey I believe you… just don't call me Lucas Lorenzo again!" they both laughed. "You know the foods going to get cold" Liz sat up. Lucky pulled her back and kissed her. He pulled away and said, "Let it get cold." He smiled and kissed Liz again deeply. As Lucky reached in his pocket for the ring, his beeper went off. "I'll get that, hold on, don't go anywhere." He rushed over to get his cellular phone. "Yeah, where am I going to go Lucky?" She rolled her eyes. Lucky came back and sat down. "Lucky? Are you okay? Did something happen?" Liz looked at Lucky. "I-I have to leave, I'm sorry Elizabeth, I have to move now." "What? But Lucky I love you!" she felt her eyes filling with tears. "Elizabeth I'm sorry…" he said softly. He stood up and looked to Liz, who was still sitting down. Lucky pulled her up and looked in her eyes. "Elizabeth I love you… I'll try to make the safest contact, but if I can't you have to understand that…" he pulled her close to his chest and held her. Liz continued to cry. Her love of her life was leaving, and she couldn't say or do anything that would convince him to stay. She looked up and said "I understand Lucky… please don't wait for me… I want you to marry someone that will make you happy." Soon a car pulled up. Lucky looked at Liz and said "Elizabeth, I want to marry you!" Liz looked at Lucky and smiled. "Don't wait for me!" "I'd wait forever Elizabeth, I love you remember that!" With that he looked to Liz one last time and left. Laura and Luke rushed Lucky into the car and sped off. Lucky looked out the back window and saw Liz picking up the basket and blanket. "Elizabeth, I love you…" he said softly. *+*+* Liz was done picking up all the articles that she and Lucky brought along. She walked toward Lucky's car, and started to cry. She walked to the docks and looked out at the water. Tears trickled down her cheeks. She was about to leave, when suddenly a hand comes from behind and grabs her mouth. Causing the picnic basket to perish all over the docks. "Mmmph!" she started to get scared, so she kicked and screamed. The person then knocked her out with a powerful blow to the stomach, and carried her off. *+*+* Audrey Hardy looked out her window, waiting for Liz's call. "Where can she be?" she asked herself worriedly. Sarah Webber entered the house and gave her grandmother a hug. "Hey grams, how are you?" "I'm fine, I'm just a little worried about Elizabeth, she was supposed to call me, so that I could pick her up." "She's with Lucky grams, she's safe." "I hope you're right Sarah." *+*+* Later that night: "Grams, you're still up?" asked Sarah yawning. "Elizabeth hasn't come home Sarah, it's two o'clock in the morning." "Are you going to call the police?" "Of course, if anything happens to Elizabeth, I'll simply die." "Grams, don't say that, go call the police, I'll call Lucky's apartment." "Okay Sarah." Audrey ran to the phone, and Sarah ran upstairs to her room to call Lucky. Audrey quickly dialed the police, and quickly got an answer. "Hello? This is Audrey Hardy calling." "What can I do for you Mrs. Hardy?" asked the officer. "I'd like to report a missing person." "Yes, can you tell me how long he/she has been missing?" "Um, yes, She has been missing for about..." Audrey didn't know exactly if she was missing. "Well, has she been missing for about twenty four hours?" "No, less than that. But please can you help me? At least check if she's at the docks?" "Yes, I guess we can do that. What was she doing at the docks?" the officer asked. "She went with a picnic basket, she was going to have a picnic with her boyfriend." She started to calm down. "Okay, can you tell me the description of the girl?" "She has shoulder length brown hair, um...green eyes, she's about 5'4...I think." "Okay, I have that description written down, I will contact you as soon as possible." The officer assured her. "What's your name, so that I could know who you are when you call?" Audrey asked eagerly. "Of course, my name's officer Kelly, detective Taggert and I will have a quick check on the girl, can you tell us her name?" "Elizabeth Webber." Audrey said quickly. Sarah came downstairs and approached Audrey, who was still on the phone. "Okay, we'll contact you if we find her okay?" "Yes, thank you officer." Audrey hung up the phone and placed it in the cradle. She turned around and looked to Sarah. "Sarah? Did you find anything?" "Grams, I think you should sit down…" she said softly. "What is it Sarah?" Audrey felt panic cross over her face. "I called Lucky's apartment, and I got a message that said that the number is disconnected." Audrey started to breathe hard. "What? What happened to Lucky?" "I don't know grams, but I think you should call the Spencers." Sarah placed her hands on her grandmother's shoulders. "Okay…"she said quietly. Audrey picked the phone from the cradle and dialed the Spencer residence. She listened closely and heard a disconnected tone. "What's going on?" "What grams?" Sarah asked. "Their phone is also disconnected." Audrey closed her eyes and lead herself to the couch. *+*+* Officer Kelly and Detective Taggert walked over to the docks. They examined every little step, then they found the perished picnic basket and the food scattered all over the docks. Then they found some blood on the blanket. "What happened here?" detective Taggert questioned Officer Kelly. "I think there was an assault." She knelt down. "Looks like the couple didn't even get a chance to eat." She said sadly. "Hmm… you have to tell Mrs. Hardy." Taggert looked off into the water. "Man, that's just wrong." "I know, but what could we do?" officer Kelly stood up. "Let's go detective." Taggert nodded and walked off, with Officer Kelly following. *+*+* Audrey and Sarah fell asleep on the couch and waited for the call from the police department. The phone rang loudly, making Audrey and Sarah jump. Sarah ran to get the phone and handed it to Audrey. "Hello? Officer Kelly?" "Yes this is she." She sighed. "Mrs. Hardy we found evidence that your granddaughter was assaulted and…" "And?" Audrey said eagerly, tears started to fill in her eyes. "Killed…" Officer Kelly sighed sadly. Audrey dropped the phone, and felt herself turn pale, she had a hard time breathing, and she clutched her chest. She could barely control herself. "Grams?" Sarah looked at her grandmother fall to the ground. "Oh my God Grams!" Sarah screamed. Sarah picked up the phone on the floor and cried. "Hello? Are you still there? My grandmother is going through a lot of stress." She could barely talk. "I think she might go into cardiac arrest." "Okay, stay calm… I'm sending some paramedics now. Stay there!" Sarah agreed and waited for the paramedics to show. Soon they arrived and rushed Audrey onto a stretcher. "Is she going to be all right?" asked Sarah, who was panicking. "Please miss we have to go now!" on of the paramedics stated. "Can I go with you?" she asked. "We rather not… we need everything clear." With that the paramedics ran outside with Audrey and placed her into the ambulance. Sarah watched as her grandmother was taken to the hospital. Officer Kelly drove up the driveway and got out of the car. She walked toward Sarah and asked her if she was close to Liz. Sarah nodded and Officer Kelly told her that Liz was murdered. Sarah cried so loudly, some officers arrived and asked Sarah various questions and told her to stay with them at the station. Sarah agreed and went with the officers to the station, where she would spend the night. *+*+* Later that night… The police department received many calls, some emergencies, some not so important. Then they received a call from the hospital. "Hello?" answered Officer Kelly. She nodded in understanding as the doctor told her what happened. She sighed sadly and looked at Sarah sleepily soundly. "Poor girl…" she said softly. She decided to call her husband, Charlie, and tell him that she'll be home later in the morning. She told him to tell the kids that she'll be home later, and then hung up the phone. "Sarah?" she approached Sarah and lightly tapped her on the shoulder to wake her up. "Huh?" Sarah woke up and sat up. She stretched and looked up at Officer Kelly. "Sarah, your grandmother… she passed away this morning…" Sarah's eyes grew wide, she thought it was a dream, she didn't think any of this was real. "What?" she finally choked out. "No…" she covered her mouth as tears fell gently down her cheeks. "Sarah, you need to call your parents… and let them know." Officer Kelly suggested. "You can't stay in that house, after what happened." "I… know" she looked down and then got up to call her parents. "Yeah, I'll call my parents." "Good Sarah…" Officer Kelly smiled. She felt so bad for her. As Sarah was going to call her parents, Officer Kelly had an idea. "Sarah… I understand that your parents are away." "Yeah… they're in Europe." She said quietly. "If they can't have you there, why don't you stay with me and my family." "Are you sure?" "Yeah, I mean the girls would love it, and my son, Derek, is your age." Officer Kelly smiled. "Thanks Officer Kelly… I'd like that very much." She smiled. Then she went over to call her parents. After Sarah was done on the phone, she found out that her parents went back to Colorado. She came back and told Officer Kelly that she had to leave immediately. She told her if it would be all right if she could come over anytime she visits. Officer Kelly smiled and nodded. With that Sarah left to Colorado. No one in the Port Charles City saw her again, except for Officer Kelly. Sarah and Derek became very much in love with each other and decided to get married. But as for Lucky, no one saw the Spencers, or even had contact with them. *+*+* Two years later: Lucky was so happy that he came back to Port Charles, he wanted so much to tell Liz that he wanted to marry her. He went over to the Hardy residence and knocked on the Hardy house door. He heard someone open the door. He looked at the person and realized that it wasn't Liz or Sarah. "Yes, may I help you?" asked a woman. "I'm looking for Elizabeth Webber. Did she move away?" he asked. The woman stayed silent. "Come in." she said softly. Lucky entered the once familiar house and followed the woman to the couch. "I heard about those girls Sarah and Liz Webber. They lived with their grandmother Audrey Hardy in this house." "Yeah, do you know where they are?" Lucky eagerly asked. "Audrey Hardy passed away not so long ago." Lucky's eyes grew wide "From what?" he asked. "She had a heart attack. She was dealing with too much stress. Her granddaughter Elizabeth was killed, and Sarah had to move to Colorado to be with her parents." "Wait a minute… tell me what happened to Elizabeth." Lucky looked to the woman in fear. "I'm sorry, but Elizabeth was killed. She was at the docks, when someone came from behind and attacked her, her body was found by the docks, I heard that she was brutally bruised and messed up." She looked to Lucky sadly. "Were you close to her?" "Yeah…" Lucky felt his eyes begin to fill up with tears. "Listen, I have to get going." "Okay, well you take care now." She smiled. "Nice of you to come!" She said as Lucky closed the door. *+*+* "Elizabeth darling, are you all right?" asked a voice. Liz opened her eyes and looked to see Nikolas Cassadine smiling down at her. She thought she woke up from her nightmare. "Yeah. I'm fine." She said coldly. "I thought you were finished torturing me!" "Elizabeth, I love you." He said softly. "You don't keep the people you love imprisoned on an island!" she cried. "I thought you might like it here." Nikolas smiled. "I want to go home!" Liz cried. "Lucky, I need to find him." "Elizabeth, Lucky left you. He's not coming back!" Nikolas screamed. "That's not true!" She started to cry even more. "He loves me!" "My brother, he doesn't know what love is!" Nikolas got furious. He went over to Liz and grabbed her arms. "Let me go Nikolas!" she begged. "Not until you say you love me! Not Lucky!" he screamed in her face and threw her to the floor. "Never! I will never love you!" she screamed again. She walked away and ran into the bathroom. Nikolas became even more furious and followed her. She quickly locked the door and curled up into a ball into a corner and cried. "Elizabeth! Open this door now!" He screamed loudly. "No!" she screamed. She stood up and headed to the sink and washed her face. "Elizabeth if you don't open this door I will kick the door down!" Liz looked at herself in the mirror and started to cry again. Her eyes began to become red and puffy. She couldn't stop crying, she didn't deserve to be treated like this. She decided to open the door. When she did, she ignored Nikolas and exited their bedroom. She headed down the long hallway and found the housemaid. "Hannah, how's Alexandria?" Liz asked. "She's fine…she's with Laurena?" "Thank you…" with that Liz headed toward another room. It was really big, it was filled with many stuffed animals, and baby toys. Liz saw Laurena and smiled. "How is she?" she asked. "Oh, Mrs. Cassadine, she's fine." Laurena picked up the baby girl and handed it to Liz. Liz smiled as she saw the smiling face of Alexandria. "Hey honey how are you baby?" Liz picked her up and smiled. Alexandria looked at Liz and giggled. Liz placed her down in the cradle and started to tickle her. Alexandria just lay there in her cradle and giggled even more. Nikolas came in the room and smiled. "She looks just like her mother." Liz turned around and said "Yeah, she does." she looked at Nikolas coldly and said, "I'm going to the garden." With that she left. Nikolas looked at his daughter in the cradle. "Hey there… I love you precious." He smiled. He looked to Laurena and said, "When is Liz going to accept that Lucky isn't coming back?" "I don't know Master Nikolas." She said softly. "She really loves him." "But we created this child, I thought she would love me…" "Master Nikolas, a baby doesn't only create love, it creates responsibility. Liz never wanted to have a baby with you, she wanted to have a baby with Lucky." She sighed. "A baby isn't going to change that Master Nikolas, and you have to understand that." Laurena looked at the baby in the cradle and picked her up. "I'm going to take her to her mother…" Nikolas nodded and Laurena left, leaving Nikolas alone in the room thinking to himself. *+*+* Liz walked into the garden, it was so beautiful and enchanting, many roses of lavender, red, orange, white, and pink surrounded the entrance to the castle. Liz always dreamed of living like a fairy tale, with horses and a prince charming living in a castle as a princess, but this wasn't what she had in mind. She never wanted to be imprisoned and forced to marry. She wanted to have her fairy tale come true by having a true prince come and rescue her. But she had to stay, she had a daughter, she didn't mean to have, and even if she could what example would she set to just leave her baby? Laurena came into the garden with Alexandria in her arms. "Mrs. Cassadine, your daughter has come to see you." Liz turned around and smiled. "Laurena, thank you…" she said softly. Liz took Alexandria from Laurena's arms and rocked her in her arms. "Baby Alexandria, Princess of the Cassadines." She smiled and continued to rock her gently. "I love you so much, but I have to leave you…" Liz looked as Alexandria closed her eyes slowly. "I don't love your father, but I don't want you to think that I never wanted you. Because I do, very much." Liz felt tears rolling down her cheeks. "I love you so much Alexandria, I just wish you weren't Nikolas', but Lucky's." She looked at the sky. "I'll always love Lucky, but what if I come back and he's happily married?" She started talking to herself. "Is that a risk I must take? I'm only twenty two, I should be able to make these decisions." Alexandria continued to sleep soundly. "I love you Alexandria… I can't leave you…" she whispered. Laurena approached Liz and said "Thinking of Lucky again?" Liz smiled and nodded. "Yeah, I am… why did he have to leave?" Laurena started to feel bad for Liz. "I don't know Mrs. Cassadine, but I'm sure he's thinking of you right now." "I hope so…" Liz looked off to the sky. *+*+* Lucky walked down the porch steps and to his car. He drove over to his once- lived-in house, and stepped out of his car slamming the door. "Damn!" he swore. He started to lean on his car letting himself slide to the ground. He placed his head in his hands and cried. "Why!" he cried out quietly. "I shouldn't have left you!" He reached into his pocket and took out the velvet box that contained Liz's ring. He opened it slowly and saw the ring shimmering in the sunlight. He could remember the time when he gave Liz a ring for their fifth anniversary… she was so happy… ** "Lucky! No!" Liz laughed as Lucky tickled her. "No! Stop!" she laughed. Lucky stopped and looked at his angel smiling. "I have a surprise for you." He said smiling. Liz sat up and fixed her hair. "What is it please Lucky tell me!" "Nope, you'll just have to wait and see." He laughed. "Come on Lucky! Please! Please!" she begged. Lucky just laughed. "You have to be patient." "I'm not patient Lucky, you know that!" she laughed. "Okay, if you wont tell me, I'll tickle you until you tell me." Liz started to tickle Lucky, and he finally gave up. "Oh all right!" he laughed. "So, what's the surprise?" she asked excitingly. "Close your eyes." Lucky smiled. Liz closed her eyes and a few seconds later, she opened them. "Is this a joke Lucky?" "Close your eyes" Lucky commanded and laughed. Liz closed her eyes and waited. Lucky took out a ring and took Liz's hand. "What are you going to do with my hand?" Liz asked, still closing her eyes. "You'll see." Lucky placed the ring on Liz's finger and said, "Open them." Liz opened her eyes and looked at her hand to find a gorgeous white gold band around her finger. "Oh my God Lucky, it’s gorgeous!" She continued to look at the ring. Suddenly tears of joy rolled gently down her cheeks. Lucky held her hand and smiled. "You like it?" he asked. "I love it!" Liz cried, and looked to Lucky. "Thank you…” Lucky lifted her chin with his finger and leaned over, kissing her on the lips. Lucky pulled away and smiled. "That's your other surprise." "Oh really?" Liz smiled slyly. She placed her hands around Lucky's neck and kissed him passionately on the lips. They pulled away and smiled at each other. "Happy Anniversary Elizabeth." He said quietly. "Happy Anniversary Lucky." She repeated. ** Lucky looked up and saw his parents looking down at him. "Lucky? Are you all right sweetie?" asked Laura concerned. Lucky stood up and wiped away his tears. "Elizabeth is dead." "What? How? She didn't kill herself did she?" Luke asked. "No, she was murdered." Lucky said trying not to cry. "By who?" Luke became angry. "I don't know dad, but when I find the person that did his I'll make sure he gets what he deserves." "Lucky, I don't want you getting hurt." Luke said worriedly. "I won't dad." Lucky said sternly "Trust me…" With that Lucky headed off into his car, towards the police department. *+*+* Sarah Webber went into the Port Charles police department, and into her office. An officer entered her office. "Please knock next time,” Sarah said annoyed. "Officer Webber I'm very sorry won't happen again.” "Better not, uh…" she tried to think of the officer’s name. "Officer Fiscal." He stated. "Yeah whatever, just tell me what's up." Sarah said impatiently. "Have you got the files on the Quartermaine robbery?" "No, I haven't, have you talked to the security guards there? They should've done a better job." Sarah placed her hand on her head. "Listen Fiscal, get me Emily Quartermaine on the phone." "I would, but she's off with her husband Trevor in Hawaii." "Oh, right I forgot she's on her honeymoon" she smiled. "Yes, that was a wonderful service." He smiled. "It was." Sarah sighed. "Anyway, when she gets back, I need to ask her a few questions. Was she one of the witnesses during the robbery?" "I'm not sure, I'll go check." "You do that Fiscal." With that officer Fiscal exited out of Sarah's office. *+*+* Lucky entered the police department, everything was a mess. Papers scattered everywhere, officers questioning victims and witnesses. Lucky moved away from a crowd of detectives walking out. He saw an officer at his desk, he decided to talk to him. "Hello… I need to talk to someone in charge here." "Oh, Officer Webber is in her office, as you can see we're all busy." "Yeah, anyway where is she?" "Over to my left." The officer pointed to the left enclosed office. Lucky nodded and headed toward the office. He knocked on the door, and a voice said, "come in." Lucky walked in and saw the woman talking on the phone. She hung up the phone and sighed. She turned her chair around and saw Lucky. "Lucky?" she said. "Is that you?" Lucky looked at the woman, and realized it was Sarah. "Sarah, I thought you moved." "No I stayed here, I'm living with my husband Derek Kelly." "Oh, well, I came here today." He looked to the ground trying not to cry. "I thought you were dead Lucky." She said, still not believing that Lucky was there alive and well. "No, I had to leave, I had to be on the run again." Lucky explained. Sarah got quiet "I guess you heard?" "…Yeah" Lucky said quietly. "I'm sorry, I didn't know that she was in danger at all." Sarah looked down. "I came here to find something on her case." Lucky said quietly. Sarah turned around and opened her filing cabinet, she pulled out a thick file and placed it on her desk. "That's why I joined the force, so that I can find clues that led to her murder." Sarah said quietly. "So, what's this?" Lucky asked. "This is Liz's file." She pointed to the manila folder. Lucky reached for it and looked inside. He gasped as he saw the pictures of the food she brought scattered all over the docks. Then he almost cried as he saw a picture of the blanket with blood on it. "Who did this!" he screamed. Tears fell down his cheeks. "What monster did this!" Sarah got up from her chair and approached Lucky. "I don't know Lucky!" she cried. "I don't know… we couldn't even find a body." Lucky looked up. "You haven't? I heard there was?" he ran his fingers through his hair. "She's probably alive!" "Lucky, that blood on the blanket matched hers, there was too much blood, there was even blood on the docks. Even if we did find a body, she would be dead." "No, Sarah, she's alive I know it!" Lucky cried. "Lucky if she's alive where is she then?" Sarah demanded "Tell me!" Lucky ignored her and exited her office. He wanted to find out if Liz was alive, and if she was, he needed to find her. *+*+* Liz carried Alexandria on her shoulders and rocked her gently. Nikolas approached the two and looked at Liz. To him, she was a princess, her long light brown hair, with light brown curls at the end reminded him of Rapunzel. To Liz, she felt like she was. She was trapped in a tower and couldn't get down. All she wanted was her prince, Lucky, to come and save her. Nikolas came closer to Liz and looked into her eyes. "I love you Elizabeth… I'm sorry I did this to you…" "Nikolas, you're wrong, you don't love me…" she said softly. Nikolas felt his heart break into a million pieces. He didn't want Liz to hate him, he wanted her to love him. He loved her so bad, why couldn't she love him? Nikolas didn't understand it, but Laurena told him its because she loves Lucky, and not him. Liz looked back to Nikolas and said, "Take your daughter Nikolas… she needs to be with her father as well." she smiled. Nikolas smiled back and kissed Liz. "You're right." With that Nikolas took Alexandria and picked her up in the air. Liz watched as Nikolas played with his daughter, she loved the way Alexandria laughed when Nikolas was with her. Maybe she could learn to love Nikolas. Maybe, but it wasn't going to be easy. Liz decided to try and stay with Nikolas, but if she couldn't return her love to him, she had to leave and find Lucky.
