Chapter 1 This story begins on the bridge where Robin and Jason made it their own. Robin and Jason broke up because Jason chose Carly over Robin. She asked Nikolas to meet her there and Emily followed him. She didn't know why she just had a bad feeling and had too. Emily watched and listened as Robin cried into Nikolas' arms, "I thought he loved me. I thought we'd be together forever." "Not everything is definite, Robin." Nikolas rubbed her back and whispered. Emily's heart broke as she watched Nikolas cradle Robin in his arms. Robin pulled away a little and looked into Nikolas' eyes, "I have no one. I mean maybe Jax, Brenda, Uncle Mac, and other people." She groaned, "You know what I mean right?" "Yeah, I know what you mean." Nikolas spoke softly. Robin needed something and Nikolas had wanted her for so long. They kissed and didn't stop. Emily could feel her heart fall to the ground. That was it. Nikolas had who he wanted and Emily never stood a chance. She had loved him with everything she had. Everything she was. Nikolas never even gave her a second look. He had Robin now what would he want with Emily. Emily's warm tears fell down her cold cheeks. She started to back away and accidentally stepped on something that made a loud crunching noise. Nikolas stopped kissing Robin and saw Emily's pained look, "Emily!" He called after her. Emily shook her head and ran as fast as she could. What could he possibly say to her? What would he want to say to her? Nikolas didn't know why but he had the biggest strongest urge to run after her. But leave Robin. He could already tell he had made her sad by even acknowledging Emily was there. Nikolas wasn't sure what was going on but Emily was upset he could tell but he wanted Robin. Robin smiled and grabbed him by the face. She pulled him into another kiss and Nikolas forgot about… Emily. Emily ran into her room and pulled out her legal books and papers she had been looking over recently. She was trying to find a way to get away from the Quartermaines and to impress Nikolas but now she wanted nothing but to get the hell out of Port Charles! She looked over the notes she had taken and now more determined than ever to get the deed done. It was time to cut off any ties she had with Port Charles, which meant the Quartermaines, Nikolas, Lucky, and definitely Robin. She grabbed her book bag and headed for Justus Ward's penthouse. Justus was looking out the window with a blank stare as he did many times losing train of thought. The knock on the door however snapped him out of it. He went to the door and his eyes widen with surprise when he saw Emily Quartermaine standing before him with her head held high and a manila folder in hand. She took a deep breath, "May I come in?" "Sure." Justus said and stepped out of her way. "I have been researching lately and I have decided to get something done legally." Emily was sketchy about what it is she wanted. "What can I do for you?" Justus asked. She handed him the folder, "I want you to represent me. Help me get this done." Justus looked over the papers and was even more shocked when he saw what she wanted done, "Emancipation?" "Yes. I want you to be my lawyer." Emily stated without hesitation. "But… It would be a very long case, I mean surely the Quartermaines will contest it." Justus explained. "That's why I want you. Your best lawyer I know. Look at what you did for Carly. I want you to get it done. I want to get Port Charles. I need to get out of Port Charles. The only way I can do that is if am on my own." Emily was so calm. Justus knew she had to really want this to be so steady. Justus took her hand and shook it, "Ms. Quartermaine, you got yourself a lawyer." Emily was so excited, "Really?! Thank you!" Emily now looked like a teenager the way she lit up and hugged him. Justus pulled back, "I file it tomorrow." "Thank you. I will pay you, top dollar, I promise." Emily was such a successful model right now money was of no problem. "I never doubted that. I'll try and pursued the judge to get this going quickly." Justus smiled. "Thank you, Justus. I can't wait to get out of here." She said and hugged Justus again before leaving. After a few days passed… Emily had been avoiding Nikolas well. She hadn't caught him at all. Lucky and Liz told her that he was looking for her but she could care less. Emily secretly packed her things all ready. She had kept herself away from the world except for talking a couple of times with Lucky and Liz. She locked herself in her room and waited anxiously for Justus' call. She was reading a book about independence right now as she had a lot lately. She was sitting at her window when her phone rang, "All right, Emily. Everything is in motion. Now since you are against the Quartermaine's you'll have to get out of the mansion immediately." Justus instructed. Emily sighed of relief, "It's all ready arranged for me to stay with a fellow model for a couple of days." "Ok, good. Now you have to leave today because they'll be receiving the court order today. You don't want to see that." Justus joked. Emily couldn't imagine what it'd be like without Lila to talk to. They had a special bond, "Ok, I'll leave now. No one's home and I could slip out." Emily said and hung up. She called a cab and headed for Christine's house. Christine was eighteen and she had her own condo. She was overjoyed by Emily's request to stay at her house. Emily loaded the last of her things into the cab and as they drove away she took one last look at the mansion and turned away. Emily was settled into Christine's bedroom and she was thinking about what Lucky and her had talked about the other day… Liz had gone inside for a moment and Emily was alone with Lucky. Emily tried to avoid his stare. Lucky sighed and leaned in to whisper to Emily, "You know, I think the Cassadine's are just evil. Sort of wicked and when people tell me they might actually have a… soul I tend to disagree." Lucky explained for no reason. Emily made a sad face, "Yeah, well, I'd have to agree with you there." "That's just it. You wouldn't. Your one of Nikolas Cassadine’s only friends." Lucky ran a hand through his hair as Emily started to protest but stopped herself, "Emily, something happened. You just… haven't been yourself lately. And Nikolas," Lucky slightly smiled, "He actually seems… like he's hurting." Lucky saw Emily's constant avoidance of his stare, "Do you want to talk about it?" Emily knew that day what she wanted and why. She looked at Lucky and saw a young man who could take care of himself. He didn't need anybody's help. She held her head high and looked him in the eye, "Lucky, I just figured out that… I've got to do for myself. I've got to trust myself. Because you can't trust anybody else." "You can trust me. "Lucky stated trying to connect the dots she had given him. Emily grinned, "Maybe. But I have to stop trusting others. Nobody else understands me, Lucky. And I'm just starting to realize they don't have to. It's all about me." Emily stood along with Lucky. They hugged and when they pulled away Emily kissed his cheek. Lucky smiled, "What'd you do that for?" "Because this may be the last time…"Emily stopped herself, "I just felt compelled to do it, Lucky." Lucky opened his mouth to say something but Emily stopped him by using her finger to cover his lips, "Shut up." She laughed and walked away. She looked into the mirror and saw herself. She frowned trying to figure out how everything had come to this. She lost Nikolas and Lucky. Lucky was never a boyfriend type but they use to never leave each other's side. Now she was lucky to get a hello from him. She looked around and the blank walls and perfect bed. It wasn't her home. She turned back to the mirror and slowly looked up with tears in her eyes, "I'll make my own home." Emily told herself and took a deep breath, "My own home." Monica sat at the couch sobbing into AJ’s arms. Alan stood next to the window gazing out at the black sky (high as usual) and not a word left his lips. Edward mumbled while pacing the room. Lila was upstairs from being so upset. Ned sat in a chair trying to imagine what Emily felt. Why did she do this. Jennifer, a maid for the mansion, came running in, "Did you see it?" She asked the whole room. Everyone looked at her confused, "Here." Jennifer said and turned on the TV and that's when they saw it… Their was a female reporter on TV, "That's right. The famous international supermodel Emily along with Quartermaine daughter is asking the court for Emancipation from the Quartermaines…" Lucky was at Liz's watching TV with her. They were joking and laughing when the TV interrupted them… "The Quartermaine daughter claims that the house is destructive and she wants to leave." Lucky looked at the screen in shock. Liz saw his look and held his hand, "You ok?" Lucky sat back with his jaw open, "She didn't tell me." Lucky sighed, "Why didn't she tell me?" Liz nodded, "Maybe she did in a weird way. I mean her constant avoidance of us… his would explain it." "That's not it, Elizabeth, Emily and I use to tell everything to each other and this is something that will change her life forever no matter the outcome and she didn't tell me." Christine screamed for Emily and she came running out, "What?!" Emily asked. Christine pointed to the screen, "Look." Emily's jaw dropped, "Oh no." "This truly will be a court case to remember…"
