Chapter Two Luke sat on the veranda in the villa in Greece looking at the sunset. He had spent a year traveling where and when Mrs. Cassadine wanted. The newness wore off months ago and he soon learned underneath those looks was a woman with no heart. He would have tried to get out of the deal a long time ago but Bobbie had been sick. He need to money to pay for the doctors and if he did leave now, Bobbie would lose the only nice home she had ever had. Ruby kept telling him that they could find a way to make it but he wasn’t ready to take that chance. Helena joined him on the veranda and placed a Cassadine medallion around his neck. Luke looked at the charm on the end and asked, “What is this for?” Helena moved in closer and started to run her lips up and down his neck. “You are now considered a paramount part of this family of mine. The only people who have one of those are family members or loyal servants,” Helena said as her hands moved under his shirt. Luke realized what she meant but he was smart enough to keep his mouth shut. Luke turned around and pulled her close. They kissed long and passionately then they headed to the bedroom. Luke and Helena spent the rest of the day in bed and part of the next. The day Luke was heading back to the states to see his family, he was about to climb into Helena’s limo when a strange man pulled up. Mikkos Cassadine didn’t even look in Luke’s direction. He just climbed out of the limo and walked into the house. Luke looked at Helena and asked, “Who is that?” “That is my husband and from the looks of him, he is not in a good mood. I will call you when you're needed next. I have placed the money in your account. If your sister gets sicker call me and I will arrange for the best doctors to tend to her. I can’t have you worried about her when you are with me,” Helena said and kissed him. Luke headed to the airport soon after that and Helena walked up to deal with Mikkos. “You have been spending too much of your time with that man,” Mikkos yelled. “I can do what I want. It isn’t my fault that your lover died giving birth to Stefan. She was weak but you never saw it. You have your playthings and flaunt them in front of the family. I have the decency to keep my play things hidden,” Helena yelled. “Don’t even think about her in that way or I will have your toy killed before he gets back to his family,” Mikkos threatened. “Do that and I will slit Stefan’s throat. I allowed you to pawn him off as my child, but don’t forget Mikkos, he won’t be the heir. You're not going to live forever and I can make sure your precious son pays for your mistakes,” Helena said to her husband and moved right into his face. Mikkos looked at Helena and realized she could do it. He was all ready protecting his other lover from her wrath. Stefan had to live with her. Mikkos said, “All right, I will allow you to have your distractions but you have to start treating Stefan better. Stop yelling at the boy every time he makes a mistake. You don’t have to love him like Stavros but at least treat him like a human being,” Mikkos said defeated and went to his bedroom. Helena watched him leave and put a hand on her stomach. The only reason she had kept the baby was because of Mikkos. His blood was weak and Stavros proved it. She only showed him any kind of affection because he was the key to the Cassadine fortune. Helena wondered if Luke’s child could be stronger than any of them. Helena had looked into Luke’s past before picking him as her lover. She learned that the boy's father walked out on him and his family, the day his mother had died. Most kids would have walked out on a ready-made family but not Luke. He had been fighting for years to keep them together. Helena respected that in him and with a little more training Luke could be the type of man that stood up to Mikkos. Helena did have one problem and that was hiding this baby from her husband. She wasn’t even sure she was going to tell Luke about the baby. Helena started up the stairs planning her next move. She decided to go to Victor. He was the only brother that she trusted. He hated Mikkos as much as she did. Victor could keep the other Cassadine’s busy for the next few months and Luke would be no problem. He would enjoy the extra time with his sister. Helena smiled a cold smile and was pleased with herself on how she handled boys like Luke and Victor. They were so easy to control and mold into the type of man she loved.
