Chapter 23: The Day Goes On... Henry and Lizzie just got out of algebra (by some strange coincident, they ended up with the same schedule, except for different English teachers and while he's taking a computer class, she's taking art). It was time for lunch. Henry entered the cafeteria before Lizzie and the both sat down at the same table. Henry: Ahh, I cannot stand algebra at all! Lizzie: We're in complete agreement. Henry: Please tell me none of the annoying kids are going to be here today. Lizzie: Who? Henry: Lucky's friends, Lucky himself, your sister sits here once in awhile too, you know. Lizzie: You find Lucky annoying? Henry: He just bugs the hell out of me, I don't know why, he just does. Lucky and Sarah come in view and Henry shuts up. They both sit down and Henry puts his hands over his eyes so they can't see him rolling them. Sarah: Hey Henry. Henry looks at her with a fake smile. Henry: Hey Sarah, Lucky. Lucky: Did you hear about Cassadine going to college. Yes, he won't be here anymore. Sarah: I wish he were still going here, though, I'm going to miss him. Henry: *in patronizing voice* Well, keeping him here limits his education, him already having high school knowledge, and we wouldn't want to mess with his education, would we. Luckily, Sarah didn't pick up on his patronizing her. Lucky kinda did, though. Lucky: How come neither one of you have gotten lunches yet? Henry: We're waiting to go to the snack bar line when it gets shorter and get real food other than the school food in those lunch lines. Lucky: Since when did you start doing that? Lizzie: Since we realized how hopeless the regular school food is. Sarah: Hey, Henry, doesn't your mother have that meeting with Nikolas' uncle today. Henry: Yes. Lucky: What does she do, anyway? Henry: Neurosurgeon. She's good at it too, we had to move around a lot because of all the job offers she got. Sarah: Like where? Henry: Well, Minnesota, California, Florida, Downstate New York, and a few other places I can't get off the top of my head. ~~ Sally exited Steve Hardy's library, quite pleased. The meeting went better than expected and she was going to start working there in a week. Sally walked up to the desk to get something and there she saw Karen. Sally: Hello. Karen sees her. Karen: Hey, Sally Corinthos, right? Sally: Right, my son was the one who hit his head at Kelly's. Karen: Right, how is your son doing? Sally: Better. I'm sorry if I over reacted a bit yesterday, I should have known better, it's just that my job begins today and I always expect some sort of major catastrophe. Karen: Job? Really, where are you working? Sally: Here. Karen: Here? Sally: That's right, I'm a doctor. Karen: Really, wow, what do you practice? Sally: Neurology. Karen: Oh, a brain surgeon. Sally: Right. What area do you think you are going to go into? Karen: I'm not completely sure. Sally: Well, Dr. Karen Wexler, I guess I'll be seeing you around. Karen: Bye. Karen took off and ran into Joe. Joe: Karen, we are going to talk. I have been trying to talk to you for days but you keep blowing me off. Karen: There's nothing to talk about. I love Jagger, I want to be with him and having sex with you was a big mistake. Joe: Karen, we didn't just have sex, we made love. Karen: Call it whatever you want, but it was a big mistake. Joe: I don't think so. Karen: Well, Joe, it doesn't really matter what you think. Karen took off, with some small tears in her eyes. Karen: *quietly* God, what have I done? ~~ Miranda watched as Quinn entered the conservatory at Wyndemere. Quinn: Natasha, how did you meetings go last night? Miranda: Well, Quinn, Jax threw me out of his apartment screaming. Can't say I blame him. Mac was a little more forgiving. Sonny and everyone else I'll just let find out some other way. I don't really feel like wasting my time with them. Quinn: Well, if it's what you want. Nikolas came in. Miranda: Nikolas. Nikolas looked at her. Nikolas: Hello, Aunt. Miranda: Just call me Natasha, no need to be formal. Nikolas: Okay, Natasha. Quinn: Shouldn't you be at PCU, young man? Miranda and Nikolas laughed at Quinn's tone. Nikolas: I wanted to call Gina, see if she wanted a ride. Quinn: Well then, don't let us stop you. Miranda laughed and Nikolas smirked a little. You always knew by this funny, strong tone Quinn got when he was joking. The jokes could stink but the voice could make you laugh in a second. Nikolas picked up the phone and made his call.
