Chapter 6: Last Supper Everyone was around the dinner table in an odd silence. Henry and Lizzie sat next to each other at the end of the table across from Nikolas and a friend of his, Lark. Then Alexis and Ned next to them, and next to Henry was Lucas and Bobbie. Stefan was at the head of the table. Henry looked at each face on the table. Alexis kept giving Stefan this odd look. Bobbie occasionally gave Stefan this glance, like she was trying to comfort him or something. Nikolas: Lizzie, how's… how's Sarah? Lizzie shut her eyes reminding herself to be calm about this. After the past year of seeing what was happening to her sister, she had a hard time not being angry with Nikolas. She used to be such good friends with him, and now she could barely stand to be in the same room. Lizzie: She's all right. Henry was wise to this and decided to change the subject. Henry: I wonder what is taking Quinn and Miranda so long to arrive. Stefan: They said they had some urgent business to attend to. ~^~ Venus opened the door of her apartment to see Miranda standing there. Venus: Miranda? What are you doing here? Miranda: I heard about Jax from Mac a few hours ago. I know they're giving up. Venus: Yes, it's terrible. But why are you here? Miranda: No matter what was said between him and me… I still care a lot for him. Venus could tell this was very hard for Miranda. Venus: Come in. Miranda entered and sat down on her couch. She looked around and said, "I like what you've done with the place. All the art work is nice." Venus: Thank you. Miranda: *clears throat* I was thinking that maybe you, Jerry, and I could pull together and together could find Jax. She thought about it for a second. Venus: I would be willing to, for Jax's sake. I can't speak for Jerry, though, I'll have to talk to him. Miranda: All right. Please keep me informed. Venus agreed to and Miranda left. ~^~ Christen smiled as Quinn walked into view of her cell. Christen: Quinn? What are you doing here? Quinn: I came to speak to you. Christen: Nothing bad has happened, has it? To Alexis or Miranda… Quinn: No, everything is well with them. Miranda is a little worried about Jax. Christen: Jax? What happened to Jax? Quinn: That's what I came to talk about. You think it is wise, kidnapping your daughter's ex-husbands? ~^~ Alexis: Stefan, could I talk to you alone? Everyone looked at her because it was the only sound that broke the silence. Stefan: Alexis, we just finished eating… Henry: Father, go on, we can entertain ourselves. It basically was the only form of entertainment they'd have. He, Lizzie, Nikolas, and even Lucas could tell that something was up. Stefan: Very well. Alexis, let's go to the study. They got up and left. Henry: Nikolas, that reminds me, I need to discuss something with you. Nikolas: Oh yeah, that… thing we were going to discuss. Excuse us. They got up and left. Lucas: Oh, yeah, I was supposed to discuss that thing too. He got up and left. Lizzie: Oh yeah, that. She got up and left. Ned, Bobbie and Lark were left alone. Lark: Can I just leave the table? Bobbie: Sure. Lark followed the rest of them. Ned: Well, shall we beat them to the punch and just ask, what's going on here? Bobbie: I have no clue. ~^~ They all meet at the guesthouse. Henry: Lucas, what are you doing in here? Lucas: You two always go off and get to talk by yourselves, it's not fair, I'm in this family too. Henry: Lucas… Lucas: Well, what about Lizzie? Why does she get to stay and not me? Henry: All right, you can stay. Lark entered. Lark: I realize something big is happening, but did you HAVE to abandon me like that? Nikolas: I'm deeply sorry, Lark. Lark: It's all right… Lucas: What do you think is the matter with Stefan and Aunt Alexis? Henry: That's what we need to figure out. Nikolas: But how? Lizzie: Look, guys, I'm sorry, but are you sure this is even any of your business? Henry and Nikolas just look at Lizzie as if she were speaking a foreign language. Lizzie: Nevermind… Henry: Look, I wish it were that easy, to go, "Hey, it's none of our business" but anything going on with a Cassadine, especially Stefan, usually turns out to effect everyone, so basically, it is our business. Lizzie: But Nikolas, you used to say you hated when your uncle interfered with your life and now you're doing the exact same thing. Like THAT'S not hypocritical? Lark: Hey, lay off a little. Nikolas: It's all right, Lark. Lark: No, she's acting like a b… Lizzie: Well, you might not be singing that tune when he cheats on you like he did my sister. Everything dropped to dead silence. The subject they had held off all through dinner was finally out in the open. ~^~ Stefan and Alexis reached the study. Stefan: What is it that you wanted to discuss with me, Alexis? Alexis held off for a moment, wondering if she was making a mistake. But she decided that she had to go through with this. She just had to. Alexis: Stefan… You have always been honest with me, correct? Stefan: Correct. Alexis: Then tell me the truth. Is Nikolas you son? Stefan stood there, frozen. Stefan: Why do you ask? Alexis: Stefan, don't dance around the subject, just give me a straight answer, yes or no. Is Nikolas your son?
