Chapter 1 Emily rolled over onto her stomach and picked up the biting her lower lip debating on whether or not to call him. Was it too late? Oh well, she decided and quickly dialed the number placing the phone to her ear with anticipation. He quickly picked up the phone, “Hello?” "Hola.” Emily greeted with a giggled, “Am I calling too early?” "Nah. I'm always up to hearing you're voice, Emily.” Nikolas said smiling to himself. "I am so excited. I finally get to see you guys again!” Emily squealed, “I can't wait." "Me neither. Port Charles just isn't the same without you.” Nikolas pouted. "Aww, Nikolas. That's so sweet.” Emily laughed, “You've grown into such a softy." "I just miss you that's all. You're so far away.” Nikolas sighed shutting his eyes picturing her face, “God, I'm actually forgetting what you look like." "You better not, mister! I want you to go to you're room and pull out a picture of all four of us.” Emily ordered jokingly. "Ah, no thanks. Pictures don't do you justice.” Nikolas praised. "Nikolas, if I didn't know better I would think you were hitting on me.” Emily blushed turning on her back. Her ponytail spread across her bed and her stomach fully exposed to the cold phone cord that brushed her belly button. "Would that be such a bad thing?” Nikolas asked with a wide grin. Emily shrugged, “I don't know. Coming from you're best friend come-ons aren't exactly expected.” She closed her eyes with a chuckle, “It's ok, Nikolas. I know you're kidding. But don't be surprised if I hold you so tightly it hurts tomorrow." "Somehow, I don't think I'll mind too much.” Nikolas said softly. Emily inhaled deeply looking at her clock, “I should probably try to get to asleep. I'll see ya tomorrow.” She concluded and hung up the phone. She closed her eyes and let out a soft whisper, “How am I going get to sleep now? I want to see them right now.” She whined to herself and tried to rest. Nikolas hung up the phone slowly thinking of Emily's comment, 'It's ok, Nikolas. I know you're kidding.' He laughed to himself, “Yea, Em. Just kidding.” He shook his head with regret, “I wish I could believe that.” He told himself before going upstairs to try and get some sleep. Nikolas paced the docks with anticipation. Emily would be any minute to see him. He caught himself constantly glancing at his watch with anguish. He took a moment to pause and take a deep breath while his thoughts ran wild, 'Nikolas, calm down, she's going to think you're crazy if you're just waiting for her. 'Nikolas heard approaching footsteps and his heart began to pound furiously as he whirled around to see Emily approaching. It was obvious she wasn't expecting Nikolas to just be there for her already. She strolled along looking out at the water and even gazing at Spoon Island for a moment. Nikolas had never seen anyone look so attractive in casual clothes. He looked at Emily's emerald green tight fitting sweater over snug black jeans. Her hair was held up by a white clip and she had on a pair of earrings Nikolas had bought her for her birthday a few years ago. As Emily stopped for a second to take in a deep breath of the fresh air Nikolas tried to calm himself with his thoughts, 'Nikolas, act normal. It's only… Emily.' That's when she finally looked his way and saw him standing there, “Nikolas.” Emily said to herself as she took a few more steps toward him resting her bag on the ground and running the last few steps to him practically jumping into his arms, “Nikolas!” She squealed wiggling her feet in the air and holding him tightly as she closed her eyes, “I missed you so much." Nikolas was overjoyed by her reaction to him, “I missed you, too." Emily let go of him for a brief moment to pull back and admire his face, “It's been too long." "Actually, two years, to be exact.” Nikolas laughed before they hugged again. Emily had never been so happy to see him than at that moment. No matter what she did she always remembered Nikolas as one of the most important things in Port Charles. She sighed letting him go and stroking his cheek with her palm, “How are you?” Nikolas smiled taking her hands in his, “Much better now that you're back." Emily blushed slightly looking out at Spoon Island, “Before we go to Wyndemere I have got to go to Kelly's. I have to see Liz and Lucky. I missed them almost as much as I missed you.” She flattered him relentlessly holding his hand firmly with one hand and gathering her bag in the other. Elizabeth served what seemed to be her last customers lunch before going behind the counter to put on a fresh pot of coffee. Lucky sat at the counter watching her with adoring eyes. She turned around to his lovesick look and grinned widely, “What?” "Nothing.” Lucky simply replied looking away. "Yea, right. I know that look.” Liz whispered leaning over the counter slightly. Lucky frowned a little as his eyes drifted back to her, “Really?” He leaned over the counter meeting her halfway, “What look would that be?” Liz rolled her eyes flirtatiously, “Let's just say… I love you, too.” She told him before taking his shirt collar, forcefully pulling him to her, and kissing him aggressively. They laughed slightly as they pulled away. Just after their kiss Emily and Nikolas walked in with huge smiles and still holding hands. Liz loved seeing them so close it was just like old times. She wasn't really sure what to think of Lucky's expression until Emily hugged him joyfully, after seeing them hug he had tons of questions within a span of seconds. Liz took off her apron before hugging Emily and walking with them out of Kelly's. They sat at a table outside and caught up quickly. The whole time they were talking Lucky was confused about Nikolas' emotions. Nikolas' body language was clouding his previous notions. He had always thought Nikolas and Emily were just friends, 'But friends never looked at each other like that.' He thought snapping back into the conversation, “It's actually really weird in Los Angeles. It could really bring out a different side of you. Of course there is no one like you guys in Port Charles.” Emily looked over at Nikolas, “Especially you.” She said wrapping her arms around his neck and friendly hugging him not paying attention to his shy response. Lucky could tell just then that Nikolas missed Emily more than himself and Liz combined.
