Chapter 7 Nikolas found it hard to get it any sleep last night. His night with Emily was absolutely perfect. He tried to call Emily but she didn't pick up. He was disappointed but he didn't let it get to him. He just went over and over what had happened the night before… he was in love. Emily was his and she was happy to be. He ran a hand over the back of his neck before picking up the phone and dial Lucky's number and he answered quickly, “Hello?” "Hey, Lucky, it's me, Nikolas. I was just wondering have you seen Emily?” Nikolas asked glancing at the clock. It was almost one in the afternoon she wasn't home and he couldn't seem to locate her… he was getting a little worried. "No, I haven't. Have you? She was suppose to meet Liz for lunch today but she never showed up.” Lucky replied with an equal amount of concern. Nikolas' heart stopped, “You haven't seen her either?” He paused feeling panic and fear rush through him, “Lucky, something's wrong. Emily's not anywhere to be found… we have got to find her." Lucky sighed, “Ok… Nikolas, it'll be ok, Emily's probably just caught in the middle of another family crisis.” He tried to reassure Nikolas but had a hard time believing it himself, “Meet me at the docks, alright?” "Ok, fine.” Nikolas quickly responded before hanging up and rushing out of Wyndemere. Lucky hung up quickly and turned to Liz, “Emily's missing.” Liz's eyes widened and her hand flew to her mouth silencing her gasp. She quickly followed Lucky out the door and to the docks. Emily wrapped her arms around herself as she entered the dim room with Jeremy. She could feel his stare but refused to look him in the eyes. Emily couldn't even remember why she had agreed to come with him. She had no idea where they were or why they were there all she knew was that Jeremy was silent and cold, “Jeremy, where are we?” Jeremy laughed softly, “Oh, don't worry about it, Emily." Emily looked around the small beat room and shook her head, “Why are we here?!” She asked with a hint of fear in her voice. Jeremy made a look like he was shocked by her distrust, “What's wrong, Emily?” He paused and grinned evilly, “Don't you trust me?” Emily shivered when she finally got the courage to look into his eyes she didn't feel secure anymore. She felt afraid but she still answered, “Yes! I trust you! But…" He cut her off, “No buts, Emily! You trust me! Just leave it at that!” Jeremy's shouting clearly caught Emily off guard. She cowered away like a small, frightened child. Emily could feel her heart skipping every other beat. She backed up until she was in a corner of the room with some cardboard boxes. She looked around herself again and saw that the building they were in must have been abandoned. The place was dark and smelled like smoke. The whole black was covered in black like something had burned the place down and from what she could tell no one was around for miles. She swallowed hard and hugged herself tightly, “Why are we here, Jeremy? Why are you acting like this?” Emily's eyes filled with tears and she spoke softly, “You're scaring me.” Jeremy's grin widened when she said what she did and Emily repeated, “Why are we here?!” Jeremy rubbed his forehead briefly before laughing and slowly beginning to advance toward Emily, “I just really, really want to talk to you." Emily held her head high, her tears beginning to fall, trying to hide her fear, “I'm listening." "Emily, that's just it! You never listen anymore!” Jeremy shouted causing Emily to jump in fear and he continued, “I'm sick of every little thing coming between us! Nikolas… everyone! It's time we talk! I mean really talk no interruptions! That's why we're here! You and me. Nothing's going to stop me from saying what I have to say and damn it! You're going to listen!” Emily stared bravely into his eyes even though nothing but fear was surging through her. Jeremy shook his head, “So much has come between us, Emily. Nikolas, Lucky, and even innocent little Liz. I know they're the reason you avoid me. I know that you feel like you can trust them now that's why you act like I don't matter." Emily felt her tears falling despite her efforts to hold them in, “Jeremy, that's not true. I do trust you… and yes, I trust them but…" "Shut up!” Jeremy yelled and Emily shut her eyes in fear, “I hate that you never listen anymore.” He said and placed his hand on her face, “I hate that you talk so much. You use to be such a good listener." Emily's bottom lip quivered as she asked, “Jeremy, what are you going to do?” She opened to her eyes to meet his. Jeremy smiled evilly, “I'm going to make you see how we weren't meant to be. But if you don't understand?” He took a step back and pulled out a switchblade from his pocket. Emily's eyes widened when he took his position in front of her again and held the blade to her throat, “I hope you listen from now on, “He paused holding it tightly to her neck while she let out a soft whimper, “I don't wanna have to hurt you." Meanwhile… "Oh, god… "Nikolas trailed off running his hands through his hair, “Someone's got Emily.” He repeated more of statement the second time. He didn't want to lose her. Not after last night. Not when everything was suppose to be going right, “Not now.” Nikolas thought aloud. "Nikolas, Emily will be fine. I'm sure. She's just…" Liz stopped herself trying to think of something positive to say. Lucky took her hand in his and shook his head trying to signal her to stop all together. Liz obliged and sat down on the bench letting his hand go. Nikolas balled up his fists wishing there was a wall or something he could hit, “Damn it!” He yelled in frustration, “You guys don't understand this can't happen! I can't lose, Emily, not now!” Lucky sighed and tried to calm his brother down, “Emily's ok. She's probably just out with that Jeremy guy.” As soon as Lucky mentioned the name something in Nikolas went off. Nikolas could somehow feel that Jeremy had something to do with this… and it wasn't a good thing. He turned to Lucky quickly, “That's it! Jeremy! He's got Emily!” Lucky frowned and Liz stood joining his side while he asked, “What do you mean got Emily? They're friends… right?” "Yea, but… he's got this thing for Emily and she's with me now. Needless to say Jeremy isn't too pleased with the idea. I know he's got her.” Nikolas explained in response to Lucky's question. Liz cleared her throat and spoke, “We should go to the police." Lucky nodded, “She's right. If he's dangerous to Emily, they're probably the best help we can get in finding her.” He told Nikolas who quickly agreed and followed them silently to the police station. "What do you mean… hurt me?” Emily asked afraid of what the answer may be. "Oh, come on, sweetheart. I know you're not stupid.” He scratched the back of his neck with the blade free hand, “And don't make me repeat myself or explain myself because it pisses me off.” Jeremy warned her taking a few steps back. Emily took a deep breath and crossed her arms be careful not to say anything more. Jeremy grinned, “That's my girl. Be real quiet.” She wiped her eyes making sure he couldn't see the tears she had let make their way to her eyes. Emily just tried to keep in mind her friends wouldn't give up on her… they were probably already on their way…
